Annotated Bibliography #1

October 19, 2017

The article that I had selected for the bibliography fits into my potential research because it relates to my future goal and achievement in becoming a nurse and someone in the medical field. I wanted to see a broader scope of the medical workplace from every perspective. From the negative to the positive points, I wanted to research the medical practice and workplace candidly. Also, the effect of adding in personal experiences and testimonies would add in the importance and significance of the presence of nurses.

The article discusses major experiences and shares the story from many different nurses. Before reading this article, I was never aware of the true raw feeling of death among the medical professionals; I always thought from the family’s perspective of death and the toll it had on them. However, I was awakened to the presence and toll of death in the medical professionals. Even though the event of death from children may be traumatic, it trained and shaped the nurses, doctors, and people in the medical field to be ready for the events and deaths of patients ahead of them. Also, the children that had to experience the transition of life, the nurses and doctors were able to help support them in this transition. This research and article help me discover examples and references that I could use to help me exemplify the importance of nurses in the community.

Bantz, Selene K., Zhou Zhu, and Tao Zheng. "The Atopic March:

Progression from Atopic Dermatitis to Allergic Rhinitis and

Asthma." Journal of clinical & cellular immunology 5.2 (2014):

          202. PMC. Web. 3 Feb. 2018.

In the article, "The Atopic March: Progression from Atopic Dermatitis to Allergic Rhinitis and Asthma," it discusses the development and the progression of the Atopic March. The Atopic March describes the connection and link between the atopic disorders like Atopic dermatitis, rhinitis and asthma. Thus in this article, it "highlights recent studies describing factors important in the development of atopic disorders and new insights in our understanding of the pathogenesis of the atopic march." This study suggests that a "dysfunctional skin barrier serves as a site for allergic sensitization to antigens and colonization of bacterial super antigens." The breakage and dysfunction of the skin barrier may be a factor in the link between dermatitis and later onset atopic disorders. This site is reliable because through the claims they have made, they were able to support it with studies and research done for this topic. Also, this study was posted on to a governmental site which gives it credibility. This source was incredibly helpful to me in gathering more research and claims for this project. I was able to gather insight on my research topic and the information from this study will prove useful in my research on the link between the atopic disorders.

Annotated Bibliography #3

Wallach, Dr. Daniel . “Atopic march: from theory to practice.” Foundation for                                      Atopic Dermatitis, 7 Nov. 2014, www.fondation-dermatite-                                                             atopique.org/en/healthcare-professionals-space/news/atopic-march-                                         theory- practice.

In this article, the author Dr. Wallach emphasized and brought attention to the complex effects and conditions that Atopic Dermatitis brings to patients. Wallach connects the facts from Atopic Dermatitis to the linkage between allergic asthma and allergic rhino-conjunctivitis. He states the "common factor between these three illnesses, which we call atopic predisposition, is a predisposition to produce IgE- class antibodies directed against antigens present in the everyday environment."This article also brings to light the treatments and effects of treating eczema first to help lessen the development of other atopic conditions. Additionally, this article helps clear misconceptions regarding the cause of the development of the "atopic march" and the overall progression of the complex illness. This source is reliable, because this is from a nonprofit organization site which was specifically for the research and education of atopic dermatitis; atopic dermatitis is the first step of the atopic march, so this information was crucial in the progression of my research.
