Some of the challenges the youth face in the workplace is the lack of social intelligence and social relationships. Some HR executives say that young adults come across as "too loud, forward, self-absorbed and lacking self-awareness." Many youths do not know how to develop a strong work ethic or to differentiate their personal life characteristics from their workplace.
Social intelligence is defined as "the capacity to effectively negotiate complex social relationships and environments." Social relationships and social intelligence have an affect on our physical health and help us interact with those around us and to develop this important skill of effective communication.
One of the things that spoke out to me in this article was the story of Lt. Colonel Christopher Hughes and how he managed to use social intelligence to communicate with the villagers. He managed to save his team from the drastic situation and learned to communicate with the villagers.
