In this video, during JD Russo's talk, something that stood out to me the most was when JD Russo shared the quote "The opposite of love is not hate but indifference." The numbing of emotions to the chaotic and complex environment around us is indifference. This reoccurring theme of indifference can be broken in our community and in our mentorship by starting from us. As we step up as leaders and go out in to the community where indifference and passivity is so prominent, it is our duty to care and to engage. It is our duty as leaders to break this tradition of passivity and be involved in the community. For example, we can apply this to when I work at my mentorship; when I see patients and can see when they are going through tough times, I have to ask and address their struggle because as leaders, we care. When everyone chooses to ignore, as leaders we must take an initiative whether that may be in an area we are passionate or not passionate about.

This is a video that gives real world applications and examples in how to be a leader. There are 3 brief elements that defines some of the characteristics a leader should have: Perception, Responsibility and Initiative.
